CALENDAR

The Viritail calendar is similar to ours. 365 days in a year, and 7 days a week. However, they have 8 months in a year instead of 12. This means each month has either 45 or 46 days in it.

 

Novus encompasses January and half of February. Its name means new, representing new life and growth. Notable dates include Novus 1st which is New Years Day and Anoxi’s Day on Novus 45th.

 

Foliar matches the second half of February and all of March. Its name means leaf, as this is when new leaves start to finally bud. Foliar 35th marks the beginning of Spring.

 

Virdan is the same as April and the first half of May. Its name means green, as the plant life start to explode with new growth. 

 

Ardor finishes May and June. Its name means heat, referencing the increased temperature around this time. The start of Summer is on Ardor 35th

 

Airiar holds July and the first half of August. Its name means dry, as the humidity starts to decrease in most parts of Hysia, leaving a dry heat. 

 

Emorior completes both August and September. Its name, rather grimly, means death. This is in reference to how certain grasses die off in the dry heat, and leaves eventually fall in preparation for winter. It used to be considered a bad omen for an egg to hatch in Emorior, citing that the increased heat could damage the hatchling. The fire bug festival on Tersca takes place during Emorior, and the 36th marks the beginning of Fall.

 

Glaciar consists of October and the first half of November. Its name means freeze, as the first frosts will start at the end of this month.

 

Frigor finishes off the year with the end of November and December. Its name means cold, simply because this is the coldest part of the year on Hysia. It also used to be considered a bad omen for an egg to hatch in Frigor, for the opposite temperature reason this time. Notable dates include the Feasting Moon on Frigor 11th, Queens Gift on the 33rd, and the Gifting Moon on the 40th. The start of winter is technically the 34th, though it feels as if it starts a lot earlier.
