General
Royal : A mutation of Viritail’s genetics that causes gigantism. The general public does not know that this is a mutation, as the Queen tells them that Royalty is a subspecies
Gravid : A Viritail that is developing eggs
Egg : Egg. Viritail eggs are soft and leathery. The shells colour is dependent on the parent's flesh/blood colour
Clutch : All of the eggs that a Viritail lays at one time. Eggs are laid once every 2-4 days
Fraternal Twins : Two eggs that are laid on the same day, and thus will hatch on the same day as well
Identical Twins : Two Viritails that hatch out of the same egg
Hatchling : A newly hatched Viritail
Virilet : A young Viritail
Pup : A colloquial term for a young Canis or Dusty Viritail, or a Moontail with Canine features
Kit : A colloquial term for a young Whisker Viritail, or a Moontail with Feline features
Virilian : To be Viritail-like. Can be used to replace the word “humanoid”
Virility : Replaces “Humanity”
Viri : Replaces “Person”
Viret : A woman
Viran : A man
Viriv : A nonbinary Viri
Horn Pastry : Any pastry that is made with swirls and looks like a horn. Croissants fall under this name
Moontail-specific
Moonian : To be Moontail-like. Can be used to replace the word “humanoid”
Moonet : A woman
Moonan : A man
Moonim : A nonbinary Moontail
Colony : A group of Moontails that live together. Considered a primitive term.
Moontaur : A Moontail that has a centaur body type
Moonlet : A young Moontail
Viriluna : A rare hybrid between a Moontail and a Viritail. Their existence was socially unacceptable until Minx’s rule.
Sayings and Phrases
“Don’t go without fruit” : A common saying among viritails that refers to the first expeditions to planet Veniscis that ended with the explorers contracting scurvy, despite the ironic assumption that their food supply would not be an issue. Used to remind other Viris not to forget their important belongings when traveling.
Any phrases containing god or other words rooted in religion are replaced with “stars” or “queen”. Those in rebellion against the monarchy often replace “queen” with various other words, such as stars or heaven(to refer to planetary bodies).
Religion to Viritails is a primitive and bygone phenomena, although various small cults do still exist.
“Oh my stars” : “oh my god”
“Oh stars” : “Oh god”
“Queen give me strength” : “god/jesus give me strength"
“For Queen’s sake” : “for gods sake” or “god dammit”
“Thank the Queen” or “Thank stars” : “Thank god”
“Queen almighty!” : “god damn!” Or “god almighty!”
“Queen forbid” : “Heaven/God forbid”
“Queen complex” or “goddess complex” : god complex
Insults
Moony : A slur for Moontails. Mainly used against Moontail soldiers and guards who work on Viritail exoplanets
Split-Lip : A slur for Moontails with any multi-jaw trait.
Scut : Scientifically, the name for a short tail of an animal. It is used as a slur against Viritails with short, broken, or docked tails. Can also be used as a general insult. Similar to the R word, but with the common usage of “bitch”
Grimalkin : Means old female cat. An insult towards Whisker Viritails to allude to a stereotype of them being grumpier in old age, but can be applied to any lady who's being particularly curmudgeonly.
Dust Dog : A slur for Dusty Viritails
Gutterpaw : An insult. Used against Viritails who do manual labor, it references their paws that get covered in dirt, dust, or just get scuffed up. Also can just be used against the lower class.
