HYSIA
A planet much like our own in climate with one large supercontinent and many islands. The supercontinent shares its name with the planet, so one could refer to Hysia as either the land or the planet. It is the home planet of the Viritails. Practically every type of animal on modern earth has an equivalent here, although the Viritails have made quite a few species extinct in their ever-growing mission to conquer and control.
Many species of megafauna have gone extinct on its surface in modern day, but due to genetic research, these extinct creatures can still be found on Tersca; the planets moon. The remaining large animals found on Hysia are protected by law.
The Capital City, Emperia
The Capital city is either known simply as The Capital or by its true name of Emperia. The city has a futuristic style to it, with a large castle sitting right in the middle of the biggest district. It is split into 3 districts. The innermost ring is called The Haven. It has the tallest buildings in the city with lush parks and gardens dotted throughout. Video displays are on almost every building, always showing advertisements to the rich viris who live there. This is where the elite live. All of the doorways are much taller and wider to accommodate taller Viritails and larger horns. The sky is kept clear of smog by large turbines located within the castle's architecture. The middle ring is called The Bolt. The term refers to how it keeps the city together and operating. The buildings here are shorter and less modern. It has a cyberpunk esc feel to it, with relatively clean streets but dark and damaged back allies. This ring contains much of the industry that keeps the city operational, and is home to the middle and lower class. Tall smoke stacks rise above the factories here, and the turbines from the castle push this smog out over the outermost ring. This outer ring is referred to as The Horror. Few of the underground rails stop in this zone, they just move on through to get out of the city entirely. The Horror is filled with crime, rebels, and poor viris just barely scraping by. The sky is dark with swirling smog clouds, and the rain is filthy and acidic. This is where really dirty (and sometimes illegal) industries are located. If you want something made cheaply, it’ll be made here.
Orienta
The sister town to Emperia. Considered a city only by population, though its inhabitants would far quicker call it a bustling town. A generally middle class area where whisker and canis viritails live. It's a large, wide, and spread out town. It has a futuristic look to its architecture, but feels more homey and slow paced than the fast life in the capital city. Has zoos, national parks, sporting areas, outdoor strip malls, and family housing. Has a lot of opportunities despite being slower paced. Many people in The Horror and Bolt dream of living in Orienta, but its cost of living is just high enough that few there will ever achieve it.
Fervor Desert
The desert covers a vast part of the most landlocked and westernmost areas of Hysia. This is where the Dusty Viritail origin can be traced, before the subspecies fully evolved from populations sent to Ignit. Many settlements are around or close to the oasis’s that dot the desert. These towns have a futuristic desert vibe. Decorative fabric drapes between the houses to keep the streets below cool, and you'll never see a window without curtains. Mining, geology, paleontology, and archeology are common occupations.
Torren Flats
A savanna that surrounds the desert. Similar to the desert, the Dusty Viritails live here. It isn't as harsh of an environment as Fervor, but is the only remaining area on Hysia with what could still be considered small megafauna. Said megafauna aren't always hostile, but nevertheless can cause a threat to Virilian life. These animals are protected by law, but poaching for trophies is still an ongoing problem sport.
Verdan Rainforest
The only rainforest on Hysia, not counting tropical islands. Many of the continents' rivers converge in the depths of this forest. The wooly morph was first spotted here, before fully evolving on Adrolla. The rivers through the Verdan are dangerous without a local guide, featuring large fish and aquatic reptiles, such as Allidilians. The Verdan Rainforest also touches the east coast of Hysia, being on the middle eastern side of the continent. Beaches here are some of the most beautiful, and are heavy tourist attractions. Wooly Viris who live here often make a living by being tour guides, fishers, or farmers of exotic fruit.
The Pastures
A general name for all prairies and grasslands. Dotted with farms, this land is where most of Virilian food is harvested. Capritaur Viritails first started evolving here, and own much of the land in the Pastures. Generally regarded as "boring and ugly", the architecture here has not evolved much. Capritaur Viris here prefer function over form, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Has major country vibes.
Scrap Site
The largest scrap yard and garbage dump on Hysia. Covers most of the northern peak of Hysia. Many workers here are from The Horror or The Bolt originally, but have been forced to settle in shabby work sanctioned apartments. You never really get used to the smell. It's not a place you'd want to raise children, but Viris here have no other option if they want a family. Those at the scrap site have not diverged far enough to be considered a subspecies, but they do often have thicker fur and double coats. This is considered a genetic morph for now.
