TERSCA

Danger Level : 2/5 within facilities, 5/5 on the planet's surface

Project Tersca was an experiment to see if Viritails could terraform Hysia's moon of the same name. It succeeded with flying colours. Tersca is mostly forest, with different biomes scattered across the surface. The foliage ranges in colour from lime green to cyan all the way to purple. This mixture of flora is from Hysia, Androlla, and Veniscis, with some being hybridized or entirely genetically modified. It has no oceans, but contains many seas that were made out of lunar craters. Both poles are frozen, with tundras and cold taigas. The surface's terrain still shows some of the craters beneath the terraforming process, giving it a unique inversed-hill covered landscape. Rivers and lakes can pose some danger, as they have areas of sudden depth from the craters.

Site Vivion

A giant underground bioengineering facility. It contains laboratories and enclosures for growing and observing new creations. It is powered entirely by geothermal and solar energy. This power plant is mostly underground, with its steam towers and masked solar panels being the only things that poke above the surface. These towers were made to look like natural mountains. It is broken into three major sections: Research labs, synthesis and incubation labs, and care facilities. Also holds the largest seed bank and greenhouse for Hysian flora, some of which has gone extinct on the planet’s surface.

Early on during Project Tersca, this site was used to develop flora and fauna to be released into the biosphere. However, its primary focus now is on the synthesis of Moontails. Moonlets are synthesized with desired traits, and then incubated in batches. Newly hatched Moonlets are cared for by robotics in a small den habitat without any Virilian contact. This way, they will never remember being in a lab. There are hundreds of these habitats for efficient Moontail growth. Once they are old enough to explore outside of the den, they are transported to a surface safe zone. It is an area of the Terscan biosphere that is safe from predation thanks to a double layer of ground lined electro fences. Any creature that comes near the area receives a controlled shock. For air protection, there is a web of shock fences built into the trees, monitored routinely by microdrones. Between the fences is a large enough area to obscure the growing Moonlets. It has been 100% effective at keeping predators out, however Moonlets resistant to electricity can pass through the fences and wander into danger. Thankfully, Moonlets stay in a home range until they reach a certain age, and by that point, they are able to be released from safety. Adult Moontails with this same electric resistance trait could wander in, but this is a very rare occurrence that usually ends peacefully, with the adult adopting Moonlets they come across.

Site Specta

An observation studio made to record footage of Tersca's fauna. A large network of cameras encompasses every inch of the moon's surface, even underwater. Because it was terraformed from the ground up, these cameras perfectly blend into the scenery, and largely go unnoticed. Micro drones are used to provide upkeep to any mechanical from afar. Historically, it was used only for observation of creatures released into the biosphere. Scientists would monitor their health and record observational data here. Since the release of Moontails around 200 years ago, it has been used primarily as a recording studio for 4 different Moontail related documentaries. These include: Terscan Explorers, a kid-friendly documentary series, Surviving Tersca, the original documentary out of the four which is shot in a professional and informative manner, Secret Lives of Moontails, a reality tv style show centered around drama and social happenings on Tersca, and Moontails After Dark, an adult show filled with cut content from the other three. Across the Virilian system, Moontails are a universally known franchise, selling merchandise and hosting conventions. This generates revenue that goes back into making more experiments.
